This is the Camp Site we stayed at in Petit Jean National Park. The picture of Jake was where the woods were just a little ways away from our site. There was a little trail leading to an Outdoor Ampitheater that is where Jake was coming from! The other pics are of the 100 acre man made lake. It is a really nice and clean campground and very peaceful too!Tuesday, April 14, 2009

Spring Break!

Trevor's Spring Break was March 22-27 so we went camping! We went to Petit Jean State Park. It is located down by Little Rock. We had a good time. The weather was nice for the first four days we were there, then the rain came. We went hiking to the Cedar Falls which is 2 mile hike. I believe the first mile and a half is down the mountain. I was worried about Taylor coming back up the mountain but he did great. He climbed all the way back up all by himself. In fact he and Trevor left Mike and I in the dust! Thank goodness the boys found walking sticks on the way down all though I was the one using them on the way back up! We also took the boys on a trail ride. Trevor rode a horse by himself and Taylor rode with Mike. I rode a horse that looked just like Sam except it was a mare and her name was Flicka! They also had a small petting zoo. The boys got to pet a baby pig and a couple of deer! They had a skunk but neither one of the boys wanted to pet it or feed it! The goose next to the pony is a female goose who has just lost her mate. She would follow Mike everywhere he went. She even tried to follow him out the door when we were getting ready to leave. I tried to pet her and she would move away from me! We hiked to the Rockhouse Cave and on the way to the cave were some rock shaped like turtle shells the name of it was you guessed it Turtle Rock! It was a much shorter hike! Yeah! We went to the Petit Jean grave and overlook. You can see the Arkansas River from the overlook. Mike did a little fishing (catch and release kind)! We had a good time with the boys but I think Mike has decided that he can only take about a week of camping especially when it is raining!
Vegas!
After spending a few days in St. George after the race we went to Las Vegas and spent the day and a night there since our plane was leaving at 8:30 a.m. and we had to be at the airport at 6:30 a.m. We took the boys to the Mandalay Bay and went to the shark reef. We also walked down the strip to the Belagio. We watched the fountains and the boys had a blast. We stayed at the Excalibur so we were just a hop skip and a jump away from the airport. Which turned out to be good since they were busy even that early in the morning. We had a great time with everyone and it was great to see the family and my friends. We got to see Shannon and the girls while we were there. We had a little B-day celebration for Trevor since he didn't get a party back home due to the ICE STORM! We had so much fun on our trip. I just hate having to say goodbye to everyone. I miss them all so much! I can't wait for next year!
Nascar Las Vegas!
I know it has been awhile since I blogged. I am getting a very late start on the trip to Nascar but better late than never! We had a blast! Mike and I got to see our very good friends Rick and Janet Brandt who we haven't seen in about 5 years. We all went into the Neon Garage on Friday and got to see the cars practice and we even got some autographs from some of the drivers. I had
so much fun and never imagined I would ever see Jimmy Johnson let alone get his autograph. That was so exciting!
